Bento Gonçalves Wineries

About 11 of us #ibmcsc folk set off early (well early for a Sunday morning) trip to the wineries in the Bento Gonçalves region. It is situated about 120 kms west of Porto Alegre and was a 2hour bus trip there. Here's how we spent our day in pictures...

Our first stop was the wine consortium where we got a tour of how the local wines are made and then got some wine (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) tasting in.

Next stop was the Cheese and Smallgoods farm.. we had some really good smoked sausages and cheese and took lots of pictures on top of a cow.

After that it was off to the Michele Winery where both Micheles on the team bought lots of wine and we took lots more photos in front of the factory shop which was inside of huge wine barrels.

We stopped for a late late lunch at 3 in the afternoon at yet another buffet place. While we were waiting for our table to be cleaned, we sampled many of the different cachasas that were on offer.

After lunch we did a quick tour of the immigrant trail in the region. This was where the first immigrants from Italy landed and here's the tree that they first sheltered in when they arrived...
